In the morning, a walking tour of the old historical Bucharest city center. We will head towards Horezu. On the way to Horezu we will stop to visit a beautiful monastery, built between 1691-1697 by Constantin Brancoveanu, in the “Romanian renaissance” style. In 1995, the monastery was included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage program. We will continue our journey to Transylvania.
On the way, we will see Cozia monastery, which was built by the first ruler of Wallachia Mircea the Old between 1386-1388.
We will reach Sibiu in the afternoon. a city tour, we will get to know the city (the Small and Big Squares, the Bridge of Lies) and its most important landmarks: the Council Tower and the Lutheran Cathedral. Accommodation and dinner near Sibiu – 3* Hotel.
After breakfast, we will head towards Sighisoara, the most beautiful medieval city of Romania. The only European medieval fortress which still inhabited, Sighisoara has been introduced in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. We will visit the famous 14th century Tower Clock, the birthplace of Vlad Tepes (Dracula) and the late-Gothic mountain church.
We will pass by Tg. Mures on our way to Bistrita. Passing through Tihuta pass, we will stop for dinner at the Dracula Castle Hotel. Accommodation near Bistrita Nasaud 3* hotel.
After breakfast, we will visit the Bucovina monasteries, painted in Byzantine style, true masterpieces of the Moldavian culture (15th century).
Voronet Monastery was founded by Stephen the Great. It is known as he “Sistine Chapel of the East” and it attracts tens of thousands of tourists from around the world every year. The most impressive aspect of the church’s artwork is the exceptional background color – the famous Voronet blue – the recipe of which has been kept a secret until now.
Afterwards we will visit the Moldovita monastery, which is famous for its outside frescoes, and the Sucevita monastery (its north side original paintings have been preserved).
Then we will head towards Suceava. We will go on a city tour of Suceava, the first capital of Moldavia. We will visit not only the unique orthodox churches, but also the remnants of the medieval fortress . Accommodation at a 3* hotel. Dinner with folklore music and wine tasting included.
In the morning, we will visit two monasteries: Agapia and Varatec. They are among the biggest monasteries in Europe (with over 1000 nuns). We will discover the life of the nuns, by visiting their workshops (where carpets, needle works or icons are being made).
Afterwards, we will pass through the most beautiful region, crossing the East Carpathians through the Bicaz Canyon. We will arrive in Slanic Moldova. Accommodation and dinner in a 4* hotel.
We will head towards Brasov. We will go on a city tour. We will see the famous Black Church and the Council Square, on a walking tour. We will reach Bran and we will visit Bran Castle, a former royal residence, built on a high rock, guarding a beautiful valley. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. We will then be walking in Bran area and admiring the landscapes. Accommodation and dinner in a 3* hotel.
After breakfast, we will head towards Sinaia, the most beautiful and exquisite mountain resort in Romania. It is situated at about 800 m over the sea level. At the end of the 19th century king Carol I of Romania built there an astonishing fairy tale castle. The castle has 160 splendid rooms used as the summer residence of the royal family. In the castle, Gustav Mahler and his brother worked and lived. The mural painting of the Theater Hall is painted by this famous artist.
Lunch and wine tasting and souvenir-wine shopping in Azuga. Afterwards, we leave the Carpathians and head to Bucharest. We will reach the capital in the evening.
Breakfast and check-out. City tour with a short visit to the Palace of the Parliament (optional) or shopping in one of the famous Bucharest’ Malls (optional). Transfer to the airport.
